United Airlines Flight Diverts to Osaka After Fire Alarm; No Fatalities Reported

Osaka, Japan – A United Airlines Boeing 737-824 (registration N39297) operating as flight UA32 from Tokyo/Narita to Mactan–Cebu diverted to Kansai International Airport on Friday, September 12, 2025, following a fire alarm in the aft cargo compartment while cruising at 34,000 feet south of Japan. The aircraft, carrying 142 occupants, declared an emergency around 18:30 local time and landed safely on runway 24L at Kansai at 19:08. After exiting the runway, the aircraft stopped on a taxiway, where an emergency evacuation was conducted between 19:29 and 19:41. Five passengers sustained minor injuries, such as bruises and scratches, during the evacuation. Some passengers reported detecting a burnt smell in the aft cabin. However, no fire was found during the initial inspection.
