Learjet 35A Crashes at Scottsdale Airport, One Fatality Reported

Scottsdale, AZ – February 10, 2025 – A Learjet 35A, registered as N81VN and operated by Chromed in Hollywood Inc., was involved in an accident at Scottsdale Airport (SCF) at approximately 14:38 local time. The aircraft veered off the left side of the runway after landing on runway 21, striking a parked Gulfstream 200 (N199DF). The crash resulted in one fatality, while three other occupants sustained injuries of varying severity.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is currently investigating the incident, though preliminary reports suggest that the aircraft’s front landing gear collapsed upon touchdown. Video footage from the scene appears to confirm this claim, though an official determination has yet to be made.

According to airport officials, the pilot of the Learjet succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. Two other passengers were reported to have serious injuries, while a fourth occupant suffered moderate injuries. No casualties were reported on the ground or aboard the parked Gulfstream 200.

The aircraft had departed from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) earlier in the day, en route to Scottsdale. Weather conditions at the time of the incident were reported as clear, with visibility at 10 statute miles and wind from 250 degrees at 6 knots. The temperature was recorded at 23°C.

Emergency response teams arrived at the scene promptly, securing the area and attending to the injured passengers. The Scottsdale Airport remains operational, though some delays and restrictions are in place as authorities continue their investigation.

The NTSB has yet to release a formal statement regarding the cause of the accident, but investigators are expected to review flight data, maintenance records, and pilot history in their ongoing inquiry.

More details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
