Private Aircraft Crash Near Charlottesville Results in Fatality

Charlottesville, VA – A Beechcraft V35B Bonanza, registered as N2UZ, was tragically involved in a fatal accident near Charlottesville, Virginia, on Saturday, January 25, 2025. The privately-owned aircraft, manufactured in 1977, was completely destroyed upon impact, resulting in the death of the sole occupant, the pilot. The aircraft was en route from Richmond County Airport (KRCZ) in North Carolina to Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport (CHO/KCHO) in Virginia. According to preliminary reports, the pilot declared an emergency while descending through 5,500 feet, approximately ten miles south of the destination airport. The pilot cited a total loss of engine power and indicated that reaching the airport would not be possible. Shortly afterward, the aircraft crashed into a wooded area. Date: Saturday, 14 December 2024 Location: La Axarquía-Leoni Benabu Airfield (LEAX), Vélez-Málaga, Málaga, Spain A tragic accident occurred earlier today at the La Axarquía-Leoni Benabu Airfield in Vélez-Málaga, Andalusia, when a Bellanca 8KCAB Super Decathlon crashed during an aerobatic display. The sole occupant of the aircraft, the pilot, lost their life in the crash. The aircraft, registered as EC-NSJ and operated by the Real Aeroclub de Málaga, was performing aerobatic maneuvers when it went down. Manufactured in 1978, the Super Decathlon is known for its agility and capability in aerobatic flight, but the exact circumstances leading to the accident remain unclear.
