Three people have died after a light plane crashed at Shellharbour Airport

Three people have died after a light plane crashed at Shellharbour Airport in New South Wales on Saturday 11 Oct 2025 morning. The Piper PA-32R-300 Cherokee Lance , registered VH-JVA , took off from runway 26 just before 10 a.m. Witnesses said the aircraft turned left shortly after takeoff before crashing near the threshold of runway 34 and bursting into flames. Emergency crews rushed to the scene but were unable to save the three people on board. The aircraft, owned by Connors Building Pty Limited , was destroyed in the fire The plane was on a private flight to Bathurst-Raglan Airport . Investigators from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) have been notified and are gathering information.
