The helicopter was reported missing during adverse weather conditions. Search and rescue teams later located the wreckage in difficult terrain. All four people on board were killed, and the helicopter was completely destroyed.

The accident highlights the challenges of flying in Papua’s mountainous terrain, where rapidly changing weather, poor visibility, and high-altitude operations are common risk factors.

According to PT Intan Angkasa Air Service, the aircraft had been modified to B3+ standard and equipped with a Turbomeca Arriel 2B1 engine with dual-channel Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC), designed to improve safety and performance in demanding conditions.

Evacuation efforts were delayed by extreme weather, further underlining the hazardous flying environment in the region.
