Ryanair flight declares emergency during Storm Amy

A Ryanair passenger flight was forced to declare an emergency on Friday 3rd October 2025 evening after being unable to land in Scotland because of Storm Amy . Flight FR3418 , a Boeing 737-800 , took off from Pisa at 15:28 UTC and was due to land at Glasgow Prestwick Airport . Strong winds meant the crew aborted two landing attempts at Prestwick around 18:06 UTC and again 30 minutes later. The pilots then diverted to Edinburgh , but poor weather forced them to break off the approach there as well at 19:09 UTC . Running low on fuel, the crew declared a " squawk 7700 "  emergency code and diverted to Manchester . The aircraft landed safely on runway 23R at 19:52 UTC .
