Azur Air Boeing 767 Incident Over Russia – Analysis and Updates

Date: Monday, December 2, 2024 Time: Approximately 09:00 Location: Over the Republic of Khakassia, Russia Incident Overview An Azur Air Boeing 767-306ER (Registration: RA-73034) operating as flight ZF2943 from Tomsk-Bogashevo Airport (TOF) to Phuket International Airport (HKT) encountered a serious technical malfunction en route. The aircraft, with over 300 passengers aboard, diverted to Novosibirsk International Airport (OVB) following an in-flight shutdown of its right engine. No fatalities were reported, but the aircraft remains grounded pending an investigation. The flight crew initially reported a drop in oil pressure in the right engine after reaching cruising altitude. Shortly after, the engine shut down entirely.
