Ahmedabad, India – Thursday, June 12, 2025 | 13:40 LT Tragedy struck in Ahmedabad today when Air India flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (AMD). The flight was En route to London-Gatwick Airport (LGW). According to early reports, 241 of the 242 people onboard are feared dead, with one survivor critically injured. The crash also claimed the lives of at least five people on the ground, bringing the total fatality count to 246. The aircraft, registered VT-ANB, took off from runway 23 and remained airborne for approximately 30 seconds. Eyewitnesses and videos reveal that after climbing for about 12 seconds, the aircraft began losing altitude. The landing gear was still extended during descent. The aircraft was En route from White Plains–Westchester County Airport (KHPN) in New York to Norwood Memorial Airport (KOWD) in Massachusetts when the incident occurred. Pilot Killed in Cessna Citation Crash Near Mesquite Metro Airport

Mesquite, Texas — A Cessna 525A Citation CJ2+ jet crashed shortly after takeoff from Mesquite Metro Airport on Thursday morning, resulting in the death of the sole pilot on board. The aircraft departed runway 18 at approximately 7:33 a.m. local time. After lifting off, it executed a right turn and climbed to about 950 feet before entering a rapid descent. The final recorded data indicated a groundspeed of 196 knots with a descent rate of 2,750 feet per minute. The crash occurred in a wooded area near East Cartwright and Lawson roads, about a mile from the airport. Emergency responders extinguished small fires at the scene.
