Saudia Transports Retired Boeing 777s from Jeddah to Riyadh by Road

In an impressive logistical feat, Saudia, the national airline of Saudi Arabia, has transported three retired Boeing 777-200ER aircraft from Jeddah to Riyadh—by road!

Instead of flying these aircraft to their new destination, they were transported 530 miles (850 km) via large trucks. The aircraft, which have been retired since 2016-2017, will be stripped of usable parts and repurposed for an exciting new tourist attraction called ‘Boulevard Runway.’

Photos on social media show the aircraft being craned onto trailers, with wings, tails, and stabilizers removed. The retired Boeing 777s, originally capable of carrying 341 passengers, are now making their final journey to contribute to a unique landmark.

Saudia's fleet now includes the Boeing 777-300ER and the Boeing 787, continuing their commitment to modern and efficient air travel.
