Hi Fly Successfully Ferries First Global Airlines Airbus A380-841 to Dresden for Maintenance

In a notable achievement, Hi Fly, a prominent figure in the global aviation industry, successfully ferried the first Global Airlines Airbus A380-841, registered as 9H-GLOBL, from Prestwick Airport in Scotland to Dresden, Germany.

The journey covered a distance of 789 nautical miles and was led by Commander Carlos Mirpuri, along with Captains Antonios Efthymiou and João Domingues.

A Special Ferry Flight

Unlike regular commercial flights, this journey had its unique challenges. The Airbus A380, commonly known as the Super Jumbo, had its landing gear down for the entire duration of the flight, a requirement for its upcoming maintenance. This precautionary measure led the aircraft to fly at a slower speed and a lower altitude than usual, but the team still managed to complete the 789-mile journey in 2 hours and 20 minutes.

Commander Mirpuri, who led the flight, remarked on its success: “Another uneventful flight with the Super Jumbo. I look forward to flying this beautiful aircraft again when it has completed its maintenance programme at EFW in Dresden.”

Maintenance at Dresden’s EFW Facility

The Airbus A380 is scheduled for maintenance at Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW) in Dresden, a facility renowned for its expertise in aircraft maintenance and conversion. This maintenance will ensure that the A380 remains in top operational condition for future flights.
