Dear Students, Parents, and Valued Stakeholders,
Excellentia Airline Academy confirms with deep sadness that one of our training aircraft was involved in an accident earlier this evening.
We were notified by the Air Rescue Coordination Centre shortly after 18:00 South African time.
At 20:38, the South African Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that two pilots on board — a Grade II Flight Instructor and a Commercial Pilot — sustained fatal injuries.
We are devastated by this tragic loss. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the families, loved ones, colleagues, and fellow students affected by this tragedy.
Excellentia Airline Academy is fully cooperating with the South African Civil Aviation Authority and the relevant investigative authorities. We respectfully request that all parties allow the SACAA the necessary time and space to conduct a thorough and proper investigation. It would be inappropriate to speculate on the cause of the accident at this stage.
Out of respect for the families, we will not be releasing the names of those involved.
